Team Wins Championship, Immediately Begins Losing Next Season

Players described the transition as “seamless.”

PHILADELPHIA — Nine months after winning the championship, the Philadelphia Sentinels have begun the new season by losing four consecutive games, a transition the organization described as “seamless.”

“We wanted to make sure the fans experienced the full range of emotions,” head coach Marty Doyle said. “Last year was the top of the range. This is the other part.”

The team has scored 31 points in four games and has punted on fourth-and-one twice, both times from the opponent’s 39-yard line.

Season-ticket renewals are up 12 percent.
