Shares of Northwind Industries rose 9 percent on Monday after the company announced that it would, in the first quarter of next year, announce a plan.
“This is a transformational moment for Northwind,” chief executive Karen Slate said on an earnings call. “We are not yet ready to share the plan. We are ready to share that there will be a plan, and that it will be shared.”
Analysts responded enthusiastically. “The market has been waiting for clarity,” wrote one in a note to clients. “Today it received clarity about the timing of clarity.”
The company declined to say what the plan would concern, describing the subject as “commercially sensitive,” but confirmed that it would involve “a direction.”
Northwind’s stock is up 34 percent this year.
